The Devastating Reality: Car Crashes and Babies

As a parent, there’s nothing more precious than your baby’s life. However, one of the most devastating risks facing new parents is the threat of car crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), infants and toddlers are among the most vulnerable road users.

Baby Car Seats

Rear facing to a minimum of 15 months old. You can either choose a single stage infant carrier (Dream), or a multi stage seat which then converts into the later car seat stages (Motion All Size 360).

Toddler Car Seats

Once your child reaches 15 months in age, you can choose to keep them in an extended rear facing car seat (Motion All Size 360), or move forward facing (Balance i-Size). We recommend to keep your little one rear facing for as long as possible.

Child Car Seats

When your child outgrows their 5 point car seat harness at approximately 4 years old (around 18.5kg in weight for Motion All Size 360, or 21kg in Balance i-Size), the next stage is a high back booster. The Discover i-Size is suitable from 100-150cm, which is approximately 4-12 years old – Motion All Size and Balance i-Size both convert into a high back booster.

How our car seats are tested
Safety is our top priority, testing our seats above and beyond the latest crash test regulations

All of the seats within the Silver Cross collection are tested to the very latest     R129 i-Size safety regulations. On top of this we test inline with the more stringent ADAC testing protocols where our seats achieve a number of best in class results. ADAC is an independent German organisation which runs Europe’s largest car seat rating programme.

ADAC - Motion All Size 360

The Silver Cross Motion All Size 360 has achieved the best test result for a baby, toddler and child seat, offering the best overall safety for an all stages car seat.

ADAC Dream i-Size + Base

The Dream infant carrier and base achieved the best score when tested together with the ISOFIX base, offering the best safety for your little one.

ADAC Dream i-Size

Our Dream i-Size car seat has been tested by ADAC and awarded a 'Good' rating with a score of 2.0.

Fitting methods

ISOFIX is an internationally standardised car seat
fitting system.

By choosing an ISOFIX car seat, you are choosing one of the safest ways for your child to travel in the car.

  • Minimal risk of incorrect installation
  • A permanent connection
  • Quick installation & easy removal

Some seats can be fitted with the vehicle 3-point seatbelt and do not use ISOFIX.

A belt fit child seat is just as safe as an ISOFIX child seat, provided it is fitted correctly.

  • Universal fitment
  • Seat tends to be more portable.
  • There is a higher chance of fitting the seat incorrectly, so follow the fitting instructions carefully.

We rigorously test all our car safety products above and beyond regulation at European independent testing laboratories to ensure your child is safe and secure on every journey, at every age. In addition, Motion All Size 360 was named best baby, toddler and child car seat in ADAC’s 2022 Autumn Test, achieving the best score in its class. ADAC is an internationally recognised independent testing body, renowned for its stringent approach to crash testing.

Yes. The Dream ISOFIX base offers greater convenience, allowing the Dream infant carrier to be easily installed and removed from the vehicle. The risk of fitting an ISOFIX seat incorrectly is far lower, therefore making them safer.

When using the Balance i-Size car seat in the under 21kg/105cm configuration (with the harness) the ISOFIX and top tether must be used. This configuration can be used until the child reaches 21kg or 105cm, whatever comes first. Once the child exceeds 21kg/105cm the seat can be used with the harness stored within the seat and the child secured in using the 3-point vehicle belt. This configuration can be fitted with or without the ISOFIX fittings. We recommend where possible to also secure the top tether. However, unlike the under 21kg/105cm configuration, this is not essential.
